The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) objective is to cover and provide all mechanisms required to become or develop an operational and proficient teacher to let teachers apply in a post 16 sector.

A substitute of old DTTLS course, DET is a nationally accredited (QCF) and Ofqual regulated course, also providing internationally recognised teaching qualification. The course is meant to provide a complete qualified teacher status in a post 16 education sector.

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is for trainers who wish to gain a full teaching qualification in the post 16 sector. This course attracts learners from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences. Learners who already hold Levels 3 or 4 may progress directly onto this course. Experienced trainer/tutors may also enrol straight on to the level 5 programme but may need to be assessed.

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training covers all components required to become an effective adult teacher. The core units examine meeting individual learner needs, lesson planning and designing, delivery, assessment and evaluation.
